Barbers Hollow Wastewater Treatment Plant UV Upgrades
UPDATES AS OF MARCH 2023:
The contractor has mobilized to the plant and begun their work to convert the existing chlorine contact tank into a UV Disinfection chamber. The UV Unit will be delivered within the month, and installed upon delivery. The project is set to wrap up by May of 2023.
UPDATES AS OF JUNE 2022:
The JCWSD’s main sewage treatment plant, the Barbers Hollow Plant, will be receiving some major upgrades this summer in the form on new UV Disinfection Technology at the tertiary treatment stage. UV, or ultraviolet light, disinfects wastewater by damaging the DNA and RNA of harmful microorganisms. Disinfection via UV light is a safe and effective method that does not leave behind harmful chemical biproducts, unlike other forms of treatment.
