Enhancing Water Infrastructure for Jefferson County

Project Overview

Jefferson County Water and Sewer District (JCWSD) is committed to providing reliable water and sewer services to our community. To support this mission, we are upgrading the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and telemetry systems at multiple sites across the county. These upgrades are a crucial step in modernizing our infrastructure and ensuring high-quality service.

Why This Project?

  • Outdated Technology:
    Our existing SCADA and telemetry systems, installed at 60 water and sewer sites, were assessed in 2015 and found to be outdated and unreliable.
  • Operational Challenges:
    Frequent connection drops, inaccurate data reporting, and increased maintenance costs have impacted our ability to deliver water at consistent pressures and maintain efficient operations.
  • Long-Term Reliability:
    Upgrading these systems will improve data accuracy, reduce maintenance visits, and strengthen overall system reliability.

Funding

This project is made possible by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), a federal initiative to support communities in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. JCWSD was awarded funding by Jefferson County Commissioners as part of three major infrastructure projects.
